What a memorable weekend in Mobile, Alabama! The Dreamers finished 4-1 and ended up as the 6th best team in the country for 2008! In getting to this result, the kids actually went 3-0 in their pool, including a win over a team from NY City that ended up taking 3rd place. They also beat teams from So Cal and Southwest Sections. Unfortunately, the NY City team got to advance to the semifinal over the kids’ team based on total games won in the 3 matches as opposed to only going 2-1 in pool play. The kids played in the 5th through 8th place bracket and won their 4th match in a row vs Utah before losing their last match to a team from South Carolina and ending up in 6th place out of 16 teams. So, for the weekend, they went 4-1 and almost ended up as one of only two teams to go 5-0 for the weekend. The kids also lucked out in getting to play practice matches on Thursday vs the Northern Section team that ended up winning the National Championship…our kids were very competitive with that group of kids.

Thanks to the Fox Cities Racquet Club staff for working with these kids the past year and getting them positioned to do as well as they did. Thanks also to the parents who helped me out this weekend in Mobile.

All in all, it was a great trip that created memories for a lifetime for all!
