Adult Rating Guide
2.5 This player is learning to judge where the ball is going although court coverage is weak. This player can sustain a short rally of slow pace.
3.0 This player is fairly consistent when hitting medium paced shots, but not comfortable with all strokes and lacks execution when trying for directional control, depth, or power. Most common doubles formation is one-up, one-back.
3.5 This player has achieved improved stroke dependability with directional control on moderate shots, but still lacks depth and variety. This player exhibits more aggressive net play, has improved court coverage, and is developing teamwork in doubles.
4.0 This player has dependable strokes, including directional control and depth on both forehand and backhand sides on moderate shots, plus the ability to use lobs, overheads, approach shots and volleys with some success. This player occasionally forces errors when serving. Teamwork in doubles is evident.
4.5 This player has begun to master the use of power and spins and is beginning to handle pace, has sound footowrk, can control depth of shots, and is beginning to vary game plan according to opponents. Agressive net play is common.
5.0 This player has good shot anticipation and frequently has an outstanding shot. Can regularly hit winners or force errors off of short balls and can put away all types of shots.
Junior Rating Guide
Pee Wee Tennis This program is designed for young players 4-6 years old with little tennis experience. Emphasis will be on hand-eye coordination, motor skill development and fun.
Level I This program is designed for players in grades 1-4, ages 7-10 with little tennis experience. Focus is on fun, instruction, motor skills and sportsmanship.
Level II This program is designed for players in grades 3-6 with one or two years of instruction. This player is an advanced beginner who needs more instruction and practice.
Level III This program is designed fo the intermediate level player and focuses on improvement through practice, instruction and league play. Players in this level are encouraged to begin tournament play in novice or level-play events.
Red, White, Blue This program is designed for the middle/high school player (grades 5 - 12) with limited tennis experience. These players are interested in leaming the game for a lifetime sport, and have a strong interest in playing high school tennis.
Level IV This program is designed for the strong intermediate player with a desire for competition in either tournaments or high school play. The player should have the ability to place the ball on the court with some degree of accuracy and play at a competitive level.
Level V Players at this level should have some tournament experience and may be in pursuit of a district ranking. This level is designed for the high school player or based upon an ability level as determined by the professional staff.
Level VI These players are playing a high level of tennis. They have a district ranting in their age group and are consistently competing in tournaments. Admittance is based upon the recommendation of the professional staff.
